Compensation range $25.00 -$27.00/h
The IT Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer systems, hardware, software, and networks within Sterling Labs under supervision of the Safety Director. This role requires proficiency in managing various devices, as well as the ability to learn and support the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and laboratory instrumentation. The IT Technician will work under moderate supervision, proactively assess technological needs, coordinate with external equipment vendors, and ensure compliance with lab safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Set up workstations with necessary hardware and software components.
- Install and configure operating systems and applications according to specifications.
- Ensure all computer hardware, including peripherals, are functional and up-to-date.
- Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems promptly to minimize downtime.
- Maintain records of repairs and fixes for future reference.
- Assist in integrating lab instruments with systems and the LIMS.
- Coordinate with external vendors for equipment installation, maintenance, and repairs.
- Keep track of IT equipment distribution and maintain an accurate inventory.
- Schedule and oversee regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Regularly assess the condition of IT equipment and identify needs for upgrades or replacements.
- Report to the Lab Safety Manager regarding IT-related safety and compliance issues.
- Document and communicate maintenance schedules and any changes in equipment status.
- Set up and support various devices for staff use.
- Ensure all devices are secure and comply with company policies.
- Provide training to staff on the effective use of these devices.
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are advantageous.
