Position Summary

The President, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director (President/CEO/ED) provides executive leadership and is responsible for the overall management, operations, and strategic direction of a nonprofit corporation that delivers programs and services to the senior population of the greater Des Plaines and Mount Prospect communities.

The President/CEO/ED directs facility supervision and day‑to‑day operations while fostering a collaborative, team‑oriented culture that ensures outstanding member and customer satisfaction at all levels of the organization. This role is accountable for advancing the mission, providing organizational leadership, and overseeing coordinated and strategic revenue generation and fundraising efforts that support the organization’s objectives and long‑term sustainability.

Resource Development, Fundraising & Partnerships

The President/CEO/ED identifies funding opportunities and develops strategic sponsorship alliances and partnerships within the public and private sectors, including nonprofit organizations, government agencies, foundations, and corporations.

The position plans, directs, and oversees ongoing programs and fundraising events and actively identifies and solicits individuals, corporations, and charitable foundations for donations, gifts, and grants. These efforts are administered through a comprehensive annual fund program, including endowment development and planned giving initiatives.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide Organizational Oversight

    Conduct strategic assessments of programs, services, operations, and financial performance.

    Develop proactive and responsive strategies to address assessment findings.

    Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements.

    Address and strengthen organizational infrastructure, systems, and processes.

  • Manage the Organization’s Financial Assets

    Prepare and administer annual and long‑range budgets.

    Review and oversee investment strategies in collaboration with the Board.

    Allocate resources to programs, services, capital improvements, and strategic priorities.

    Ensure responsible financial stewardship and fiscal accountability.

  • Lead Progressive Fundraising & Advancement Efforts

    Establish short‑and long‑term goals and objectives for organizational development.

    Research, identify, and solicit individuals, corporations, and foundations for financial and in‑kind support.

    Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors.

    Design and oversee fundraising strategies including direct mail, special events, planned giving, and capital campaigns.

    Develop and submit funding proposals and grant applications to public and private funding entities.

  • Serve as Corporate Officer and Board Partner

    Act on behalf of the corporation as an officer, including serving as Registered Agent and Secretary when required.

    Participate in meetings and activities of the Board of Directors and Board committees.

    Support board development and coordinate director recruitment efforts in partnership with Board leadership.

  • Coordinate Human Resources & Organizational Leadership

    Assess staffing needs and recruit, hire, train, supervise, and retain employees aligned with organizational goals.

    Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.

    Serve as the final authority regarding the interpretation and application of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Represent the Organization

    Serve as the primary representative and ambassador of the organization.
