Material Handler - 1st Shift

Overview

Floor Material Handler – Des Plaines, IL. Responsible for orderly movement of materials in and out of manufacturing departments, ensuring smooth production flow.

• Ensure machine operators are supplied with necessary materials on time.
• Operate manual pallet trucks and other non-powered material handling equipment to transport parts, stock, and supplies.
• Order materials from stock for use on the production floor.
• Operate hoist and carton sealers.
• Lift boxes, totes, and parts from pallets and baskets; place them on conveyors or tables.
• Remove empty pallets, boxes, and other containers from the area.
• Clean tote pans and sweep/mop to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• At shift end, ensure machines are fully stocked and areas ready for the next shift.
• Dispose of trash properly during and/or at shift end.
• May perform machine operator duties as required.
• Follow all plant safety rules.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to read work orders and determine parts needed to assure uninterrupted production on assembly lines.
• Ability to read and speak English in a proficient manner.
• Numerical ability: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers is preferred.
• Physical requirements:
  
  stand and/or walk for long periods; bend, twist, turn, squat without restriction; lift up to 75 lbs periodically; good vision and hearing.
