Role Description The Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site role located in Des Plaines, IL. This role includes performing physical examinations, diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, and providing preventive care for companion animals. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting medical and surgical procedures, interpreting diagnostic tests, maintaining accurate medical records, and collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff. The Veterinarian will communicate clearly with clients about diagnoses, treatment options, and home care, while supporting a safe, clean, and well-organized clinical environment.
The role may also involve participation in research activities, case discussions, and continuing education to maintain current veterinary knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for Illinois veterinary licensure.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in small animal medicine, surgery, diagnostics, and preventive care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, colleagues, and support staff.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently, maintain accurate records, and follow clinical protocols.
- Commitment to compassionate, non-discriminatory care and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
- Interest or experience in veterinary research, evidence-based practice, or clinical trials is beneficial.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, safely handle animals of varying sizes, and comply with workplace safety practices.
