Laboratory Operations Technician II

Location: 1300 East Touhy Avenue, Des Plaines, IL

Duration: 12 Months

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite

Pay Range: $20 - $23 per hour (W2)

We are seeking a “Laboratory Operations Technician II” to join one of our leading healthcare clients.

Duties and Responsibilities Laboratory Equipment Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Collect assay tray carriers, sample racks, laboratory equipment, and other reusable materials from designated work areas.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitization of reusable items using approved procedures in compliance with GLP standards.
  • Ensure proper handling, segregation, and labeling of materials during collection and cleaning to prevent cross‑contamination.
  • Inspect cleaned items to confirm cleanliness and suitability for reuse.
  • Return cleaned materials to appropriate laboratory locations in a timely manner to support continuous operations.
Sample Handling and Testing Support
  • Receive, log, and track swab samples generated during refurbishment activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare and load samples onto automated molecular platforms to support refurbishment verification testing.
  • Dispose of samples and consumables following approved safety and compliance guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of sample processing, testing activities, and results in accordance with data integrity standards.
  • Ensure traceability and accuracy through strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborate closely with refurbishment and laboratory operations teams to ensure efficient workflows and timely completion of testing.
Project Work
  • Execute project tasks independently or with minimal supervision to support team goals and operational improvements.
  • Partner with team members to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Document, track, and communicate project progress and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure proper handling of samples and equipment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move materials weighing over 20 pounds.

    Skills:

    Strong verbal and written communication to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
