Maintenance Technician
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment on the manufacturing floor of a plastic molding facility. You will perform preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns, work on extrusion lines, and support the installation and setup of machines for various products. The position involves extensive work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems as well as PLCs to keep production running safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose issues, and carry out mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Install and commission new machines and equipment for different products and production lines.
- Work directly on extrusion lines, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and within quality standards.
- Maintain and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems used throughout the production process.
- Assist with setting up production lines, including changeovers between different products and configurations.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 3-phase motors, relays, and related components.
- Work with PLCs in support of machine operation, troubleshooting, and production line performance.
- Interpret and use blueprints and technical drawings to guide installations, repairs, and modifications.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying equipment issues and proposing maintenance solutions.
- Collaborate with production staff to minimize downtime and coordinate maintenance activities around production needs.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area around machines and production lines.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Plaines, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
