Maine Township High School District 207 announces a vacancy for a Certified & Licensed Athletic Trainer - 12 month at Maine Township High School District 207 beginning with the school year.
SUMMARYThe Athletic Trainer supports the health and safety of student-athletes by assisting in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. This role works collaboratively with the Assistant Athletic Trainer, coaches, and school administration to ensure compliance with district policies, state athletic association guidelines, and professional standards of practice. The Athletic Trainer plays a vital role in promoting wellness, injury prevention, and a safe return to play for all student-athletes.

- Athletic Director
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director in accordance with District 207's support staff evaluation procedures and aligned to district priorities.
SUPERVISES- Assistant Athletic Trainer
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- Hold and maintain National Athletic Trainers Association BOC certification, and Illinois State Licensure or eligible
- Strong background in functional rehabilitation is desired
- Possess good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents
- Ability to deal courteously and professionally with both public and staff
- Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks at a time and be effective with time management.

- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Provide immediate care for athletic injuries and medical emergencies during practices, games, and athletic events.
- Assist in developing and implementing injury prevention programs, rehabilitation plans, and post-injury care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of injuries, treatments, and progress reports in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, coaches, and school personnel regarding injury status, treatment plans, and participation clearance.
- Coordinate physical exams, concussion management, and emergency action plans.
- Monitor athletic facilities and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to district policies and ethical standards at all times.
- Maintain current certifications (e.g., BOC certification, CPR/AED, First Aid).
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay informed on best practices in sports medicine.
- Assess initial injuries to athletes and determine appropriate care.
- Rehabilitate athletic injuries using appropriate therapeutic techniques.
- Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches.
- Work with physicians on the progress of recovering athletes when applicable.
- Communicate athletic injuries with parents, including updates on return-to-play status.
- Notify parents of an injury and recommend appropriate medical care when a significant injury has occurred.
- Communicate with coaches when athletes are cleared and ready to return to play.
- Communicate all medical concerns or issues to the school nurse.
- Schedule, supervise, observe, and evaluate the performance of the Assistant Athletic Trainers.
- Administer ImPACT testing to all student-athletes.
- Maintain ImPACT test results and ensure compliance with return-to-play protocols.
- Maintain the athletic training room budget, including ordering and receiving supplies.
- Assist with the purchasing of athletic equipment, specifically protective gear.
- Assist with maintaining an inventory of equipment for athletics and physical education.
- Implement and oversee the student athletic trainer program.
- Assist in certifying coaches for CPR and AED training.
- Coordinate AED placement and maintenance across athletic facilities.
- Must be an effective communicator with students, staff, parents, and medical professionals.
- Collaborate with coaches to support safe training practices and athlete readiness.
- Counsel athletes on nutrition, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle habits.
