Inbound Team Leader

As a Contract Logistics Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, you will manage end-to-end warehousing operations for our customers. By doing so with precision, you not only contribute to the success of your team, but also to the day-to-day operations and success in the warehouse and distribution centres. For example, storing and delivering delicate flowers and fresh ingredients to local stores for everyday lunches and family celebrations.

You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising inbound logistics activities to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient shipment of customer orders. Under the direction of a Warehouse Supervisor or Operations Manager, the Warehouse Team Lead directs activities consistent with company goals and guidelines. The position is located in Des Plaines, IL and offers flexible schedules.

• Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments.
• Orderly stacking of product.
• Picking and staging outbound shipments per the highest possible levels of quality and productivity.
• Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all product is properly counted.
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage and errors.
• Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment.
• Ensure that the work schedules are correctly implemented, and jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
• Maintain product locator system and maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
• Ensure the optimal utilization of space through warehouse consolidation.
• Rotate the product as appropriate.
• Requires frequent walking, carrying, reaching, standing and stooping.
• Requires lifting/lowering, pushing, or pulling of various items of varying weight up to 50 lbs.
• Requires work from heights of up to 20 feet from the floor.
• Requires work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
• Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
• Conduct operations following OSHA and MSDS standards.
• Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Assure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories.
• Adhere to Kuehne + Nagel’s Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment Program policies and procedures.

• High School diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lead position where effective employee supervision applies.
• Detail-oriented, customer-focused, excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Languages:
  
  English – Ability to speak, read, write and interpret documents.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong analytical and multi-tasking skills.
• Candidate must have Parts Technical Analyst (PTA) certification for Inbound function.

. Base salary is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
