Under general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities and Maintenance Technician I performs a wide variety of non-technical duties. Supports system maintenance to ensure the safety, availability, reliability, cleanliness and aesthetics of the DPM vehicles, structures, station areas, guideway, MCF, shop, and administration area by performing custodial and maintenance work.
Duties and Responsibilities- Cleans interior and exterior of DPM vehicles, and maintenance area and other administrative areas.
- Picks up and delivers material between vendors, stores and maintenance personnel.
- Removes debris from guideway, storm sewers, drains, gutters, and downspouts; removes snow and ice from walkways.
- Performs custodial work inside and outside buildings as required.
- Performs light repairs and maintenance to the trains, as assigned.
- Operates motor vehicle (4‑wheel drive/standard transmission) with a valid driver's license.
- Attends technical and safety training including driver training as required.
- Makes on‑the‑spot analysis of anomalous vehicle and guideway conditions as required.
- Assists Mechanical technicians and Electronic Technicians on specific sub‑systems, as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Some general labor experience, preferably in building maintenance.
- Preferred: The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Preferred: May be exposed to a hazardous environment.
- Preferred: May be requested to work outside of regular hours for special program events.
- Ability to read and write basic instructions, safety protocols, manuals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to perform snow removal, de‑icing, procedures used to clean system components and maintain a general knowledge of mixing various chemical solutions for different purposes.
- Ability to use and apply safety procedures for powered equipment such as gasoline generators, powered lawn mowers, snow blowers and gasoline powered vacuum cleaners.
- Ability to utilize any and all equipment and tools such as trucks, cars, forklifts, vacuum cleaners, buffing equipment, vehicle working station, hydraulic lifts, mops, brushes, paint brushes and shovels.
- Must be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodations: walk, stand, sit, speak, hear, and use manual dexterity.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and stooping, with some sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must pass a complete physical examination and drug screen.
- Must have a driver’s record compliant to DTC Driving Policy.
- Must maintain certification/re‑certification of DPM task requirements.
