Overview
Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, a faith-based, premier nonprofit organization providing senior living and services in Michigan, has a great opportunity to join our team as a full-time Maintenance Technician at Oakman Manor, Detroit, Michigan. We invite you to help us create new possibilities for quality living for the seniors we serve.
Location:
Oakman Manor, Detroit, Michigan. This position involves installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, equipment, physical structures, building systems, and the outside environment, with responsibility for upkeep of the community and grounds.
- Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment routinely to determine the necessity of repairs or maintenance.
- Inspect, operate, test, maintain, and repair mechanical devices, machinery, equipment and tools.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, consulting repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Install, assemble, repair and maintain electrical and gas appliances, equipment, systems, fixtures, lights, electronic components, plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Paint or repair surfaces, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
- Provide landscaping and snow removal to ensure appearance and safety for employees, residents, and visitors.
- Fabricate, install, repair, maintain, and replace structural items such as counters, cabinets, partitions, floor and ceiling tile, gutters, roofs, etc.
- Prepare assigned areas for activities and events by clearing and/or rearranging furniture, setting up equipment, removing trash, etc.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and identifying hazards.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies following safety procedures.
- Input work requests and detailed information into the electronic system.
- Install equipment to improve energy or operational efficiency of buildings.
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities to stay informed on current information and skill development.
- Follow established policies and procedures, including Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures, Safety policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- One to two years of related experience in maintenance required.
- Ability to operate a computer and maintenance software.
- Valid Driver s License and reliable transportation required.
- Certification in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC is a plus.
- On-call for maintenance emergencies required.
