Job Summary
The Detroit Tigers are looking for a self‑motivated, knowledgeable individual to serve as a member of the Comerica Park maintenance department. This is an hourly union (SEIU Local1) position without benefits working up to 32 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Assist in the production, setup, teardown, and execution of all events at Comerica Park, including major events (concerts, conventions, sporting events) and smaller events such as corporate retreats, luncheons, meetings.
- Respond to requests from management, vendors, guests, event and team representatives to move furniture, boxes, and equipment.
- Distribute Tigers “giveaways” at each arena entrance.
- Perform custodial duties including cleaning exterior ramps, docks, entrance areas; sweep and collect trash around the building, stairwells, entry pavilion, and other necessary areas.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely, following proper procedures.
- Set‑up signage, banners and perform conversions between events or games.
- Set and strike tables, chairs, stages, pipe and drape, and other items as needed; build and disassemble “risers” and stages for concerts and other events.
- Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance projects to keep inventory in working condition; maintain tools, equipment, and the maintenance room in neat condition.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, concourse, and walkways for safety.
- Assist with covering the field with the field tarp when required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and load/unload up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, push and pull for long periods; handle different weather conditions.
- Must work long hours, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age.
- Background checks will be performed on all candidates offered a position.
- This position requires membership in the Service Employees International Union Local
