Michigan FM - Detroit, MI 48202, Position Summary The Janitorial/Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly condition. This position performs routine cleaning and custodial duties in accordance with established cleaning procedures, quality standards, safety requirements, and management direction.

• Vacuum carpeted areas and remove visible debris and dirt.
• Dust mop and damp mop floors as required.
• Sweep floors and maintain assigned areas free of dirt and debris.
• Empty trash receptacles, properly dispose of waste, and replace liners.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms in accordance with established cleaning procedures.
• Replenish restroom supplies and other designated consumable supplies as needed.
• Dust ledges, windowsills, horizontal surfaces, vents, and other designated areas.
• Clean glass, mirrors, and other designated surfaces.
• Spot-clean walls and other surfaces as needed.
• Maintain assigned areas in accordance with established cleaning, quality, and safety standards.
• Use cleaning products, equipment, and supplies in accordance with established safety procedures and manufacturer instructions.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or other facility concerns to the appropriate supervisor or management.
• Perform other janitorial and custodial duties as assigned and required by the scope of work or management.

• Dependable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance and assigned responsibilities.
• Detail-oriented and able to consistently maintain established cleaning and quality standards.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to safely use common custodial equipment, cleaning products, and supplies.
• Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner while working in an occupied facility.
• Must comply with all company, facility, safety, and security policies and procedures.

The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods. The employee may be required to lift and carry cleaning supplies, equipment, and waste materials within the limits established by company and facility requirements.

Work is performed primarily indoors and may include exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, wet floors, and other conditions commonly associated with custodial work. Employees are expected to use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
