Critical Facility Engineer

BGIS is currently seeking a Critical Facility Engineer (Data Center) to join the team in Harwood, ND.

The Critical Facility Engineer is responsible for maintaining important mechanical, electrical and control systems in a critical environment data center. Key job activities include delivering timely and quality client service while providing a sustainable approach to data center systems maintenance. The role demonstrates BGIS values daily in communication with the client and other team members.

• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with internal and external clients.
• Complete client service requests in a timely manner.
• Respond to emergency calls.
• Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.

• Perform maintenance to ensure the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business.
• Complete routine maintenance tasks in accordance with BGIS Safety Policy and Procedures.
• Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
• Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend system upgrades.
• Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs.
• Request proposals for outsourced work.
• Monitor vendors and contractors to ensure their work meets BGIS and client standards.
• Accurate and timely completion of work order requests.
• Escalate issues to Critical Environment Facility Manager as needed.

• Controls, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with PLC controls and industrial automation systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on‑site response.

• Ability and willingness to travel.
• Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in a similar working environment with HVAC or Electrical knowledge helpful.
• One‑year experience in a specific Critical Environments position.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems and equipment typically used in critical environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with client service focus to maintain professional relationships.
• Ability to work both individually and contribute positively to teamwork.
• Critical facility procedure use and development.
• Time Management focus to prioritize and complete work in a timely basis.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook preferred. SharePoint and Power BI experience is a plus.
• Navigation, operating experience and understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Building Automation Systems, Emergency Power Monitoring Systems and Fire Alarm Systems.

• Ability and willingness to travel regionally.
• Current valid driver’s license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office with reimbursement.
• Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain.
• Working at heights training/certification preferred.
• Respond to off‑hour emergency calls.
