SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:
School Social Worker

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal and/or Director of Specialized Services

EVALUATION:
Evaluated by the Principal / Assistant Principal and/or Director of Specialized Services Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the agreement between The Board of Education and the Professional Negotiations Agreement (PNA).

WORK YEAR: 180 Workdays

SALARY RANGE:
In accordance with experience and the PNA contract. Range $49,437.00 - $66,785

• Meet Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) standards.
• Hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Worker endorsement.

The School Social Worker provides social, emotional, and behavioral support to students in order to enhance their academic success and overall well-being. The School Social Worker collaborates with educators, families, and community agencies to address barriers to learning and promote positive social and emotional development.

• Provide individual and group counseling to support students' social and emotional needs.
• Assist in identifying and evaluating students for special education services.
• Participate as a member of the IEP team and support implementation of student plans.
• Conduct social developmental studies and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student needs.
• Consult with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support strategies.
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support when necessary.
• Connect families with community resources and outside agencies when appropriate.
• Support MTSS, PBIS, and other district initiatives that promote student well-being.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and other meetings as directed.
• Perform other duties in alignment with job classification as directed by the principal or designee.
