Responsibilities
  • Receives daily work assignments and preventive maintenance assignments from the Director of Maintenance via the College’s automated work order system.
  • Performs a full range of medium‑skilled, preventative maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, facilities, and equipment.
  • Assists higher‑graded technicians in construction repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC work.
  • Performs medium‑skilled tasks independently, including minor electrical and plumbing repairs, small‑area painting, furniture assembly, and door repairs.
  • Conducts inspections of campus facilities to determine maintenance requirements.
  • Executes simple preventative maintenance tasks on mechanical and electrical equipment and buildings.
  • Performs routine plumbing maintenance throughout the campus.
  • Executes light carpentry work, including drywall installation.
  • Paints interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Develops material lists for projects.
  • Performs housekeeping and custodial duties as assigned.
  • Assists in cleaning campus grounds, parking lots, and access streets.
  • Trims shrubs and trees; climbs ladders or uses lifts to reach high limbs or branches.
  • Applies fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides to lawns and other plants.
  • Extracts weeds from flower beds and lawns.
  • Lays sod and sows grass seed.
  • Rakes or blows leaves from lawn areas.
  • Maintains parking lots, sidewalks, and other paved areas using brooms, vacuums, leaf blowers, and pressure washers.
  • Picks up debris including rubbish, pine cones, sticks, and branches from grounds and paved areas around buildings.
  • Operates a wide range of equipment, including backhoes, front‑end loaders, forklifts, and sweepers.
  • Performs routine maintenance on tools and equipment, including oiling, replacing belts, and changing spark plugs.
  • Moves office and classroom furniture.
  • Is responsible for the moving and setup of furniture and equipment for special events on and off campus.
  • Reports to work on time and performs a productive full day’s work.
  • Ensures that service to students and the general public is a top priority.
  • Demonstrates a considerate, friendly, respectful, and constructive attitude toward fellow employees and students.
  • Adheres to all College and System policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED (minimum). Must provide an official transcript and may not submit a copy of the diploma alone.
  • One year full‑time experience in general building maintenance and construction, AND one year full‑time experience in maintenance/industrial equipment operation.
  • Current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical exertion: frequent ladder climbing, crouching or crawling in confined areas, and lifting/up to 50 lbs regularly and unassisted.
