Open Until Filled General Description

Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the Wyoming Army National Guard personnel and visitors as a part‑time Facilities Maintenance Technician at the Douglas Armory. This position plays an important role in supporting daily operations by ensuring the facility and surrounding grounds are well‑maintained, functional, and presentable year‑round.

Responsibilities include performing a variety of custodial and facility maintenance duties, such as cleaning and maintaining offices, classrooms, restrooms, hallways, gym areas, kitchens, and common spaces. You will operate and maintain a variety of equipment—including floor scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, lawnmowers, and other custodial and groundskeeping tools—to ensure facilities remain in excellent condition.

Essential Functions
  • General cleaning, vacuuming floors and furniture, emptying trash and recycling containers, dusting, washing windows and mirrors, cleaning and stocking restrooms, classrooms, kitchen, hallways, gym, and offices.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including hand tools, vacuums, carpet shampooer, extractor, floor scrubber, square scrub, floor buffer, lawnmower, and weed eater.
  • Inspect and document emergency lighting and fire extinguishers for proper operation.
  • Maintain storage of custodial supplies and request replenishments as needed.
  • Identify facility material deficiencies and submit work order requests to the Supervisor and the Construction Facilities Management Office.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all cleaning supplies and chemicals used and stored on site.
  • Comply with state and federal policies such as OSHA and EPA, determining the compatibility of different chemicals.
  • Perform ground maintenance duties, including mowing and weeding grass in the summer months and caring for and maintaining trees, shrubs, flowers, and snow removal in the winter months.
Preferences / Agency Requirements
  • Preference may be given to those with a High School Diploma plus six months of progressive work experience, typically in Building and Grounds.
  • Agency requires a valid Driver’s License.
  • Agency requires a Federal Security Clearance.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and understanding of SDS sheets.
  • Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and more technical cleaning and maintenance methods.
  • Skilled in custodial maintenance.
  • Skilled in operating light and heavy‑duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math, irrigation systems, basic electricity, lawn care, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • 0–6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds).
  • OR 1–2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds).
  • Certificates, licenses, registrations:
    None.
Physical Working Conditions
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, chemicals, biohazards, and potential explosives.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Position is essential personnel and will be required to respond during inclement weather for snow removal operations.
  • Employee may be subject to after‑hours call back or reporting to work outside their normally scheduled hours.
Notes
  • FLSA:
    Non‑exempt.
  • This is a permanent part‑time position working 80 hours per month.
  • Position will be eligible for pro‑rated Annual and Sick Leave.
  • Attach a DD‑214 for Veteran points consideration.
  • Position is considered essential personnel.
