PT Custodian

SUMMARY

Thisis unskilled work responsible for keeping premises of county office buildings in clean and orderly condition. The work is performed under direct supervision and is reviewed through periodic inspections. Work includes dusting, sweeping,mopping, vacuuming and emptying trash.

• Duties include but are not limited to:
• Dusting and cleaning chairs, tables, shelves, and other furniture or equipment
• Washing windows, walls, woodwork and venetian blinds
• Sweeping,mopping, waxing, and buffing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets
• Cleaning baseboards; removing cobwebs
• Polishing furniture and brass fixtures
• Cleaning and supplying restrooms daily
• Cleaning offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways,and other work areas
• Cleaning upholstered furniture
• Mayunlock buildings in the morning and secure buildings at night
• Emptying wastebaskets and transporting trash and waste to consolidated disposal bins Loading and unloading supplies and materials; stocking materials and supplies
• Operating vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners, buffing machines, mops, brooms and dusters inthe performance of duties
• Mayraise and take down flags
• Assisting in training new custodians
• Performing other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (GED)
• Twoyears professional related work experience
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds

• Posses sand maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class
  
  C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) if assigned job duties requiring the use of a vehicle

• Knowledge of or ability to learn countyand department operations, ordinances, policies, procedures, terminology,and materials as they relate to assignment
• Knowledge of cleaning principles,techniques, guidelines, practices, and equipment as related to assignment;industrial cleaning
• Knowledge of occupational hazards andsafety precautions necessary for the safe operation of equipment, tools,machinery, and vehicles as required by assignment
• Knowledge of the operation of all department equipment, tools, machinery, and vehicles as required by assignment
• Skill in handling and operating all assigned equipment, tools, and/or vehicles in a safe and proficient manner
• Skill in performing tasks which require attention to detail, and completing assigned jobs efficiently and correctly
• Skill in planning, prioritizing, and organizing work; ability to handle multiple work assignments and deadlines efficiently, accurately, and professionally
• Ability to apply common sense to understand, follow,and complete verbal and written instructions
• Ability to communicate and interact clearly and effectively with all those contacted in the course of work ina professional and courteous manner, both orally and in writing;establishing and maintaining effective, professional, and cordial working relationships
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally and to exercise discretion in performing assigned job duties; inability to maintain confidentiality will be grounds for dismissal
• Ability to learn and perform simple repetitive tasks quickly
