Overview
Responsible for monthly and quarterly consumption data collection from water meters. Records changed meter information. Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities. Installs water mains for new customers and repairs existing infrastructure. Locates Miss Utility markings and maintains and repairs water wells. Tests water quality, adjusts chemical levels, and refills plant chemicals. Performs meter reading and repair.
Responds to customer complaints. Operates the dump truck, sewer vacuum, and backhoe as required. Performs testing and prepares reports in compliance with state and federal agency requirements.

- Loads hand held water meters with data for monthly and quarterly meter readings.
- Records new and changed meter identification in data system.
- Tests well samples for daily chlorine and PH level.
- Performs State of Delaware bacteria and lead testing.
- Inspects wells.
- Installs new water mains.
- Responds to meter reading complaints.
- Bench tests meter.
- Compiles maintenance schedules for all wells.
- Maintains inventory in computer program.
- Organizes work orders.
- Prepares annual Consumer Confidence Report.
- Maintains and repairs existing infrastructures.
- Performs related work as required.
Education and Experience
- Additional training or up to one (1) year of job-related course work after high school
- At least six (6) months to one (1) year of related work experience
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
- Delaware Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B with Tank Endorsement
- Delaware Water Operations License or acquire within 12 months
Job Requirements
- The ability to respond to emergency calls, rotating on call scheduling and some weekends based on operational needs of the City.
