Summary

Building Cleaning Workers I:
Perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of New Hampshire Hospital; may include assignment to multiple units, areas or locations.

Building Cleaning Workers II:
Serve as a team or crew lead, and/or shift point person and independently provide a full range of cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of New Hampshire Hospital; may include assignment to multiple units, areas or locations.

Your Experience Counts

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Building Cleaning Worker I

    8th Grade Education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the methods and practices of cleaning services in a large complex, health facility, or building
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
  • Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment, and safety
  • Ability to read and write and to prepare both written and oral reports
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
  • Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority

For promotion from the 37‑2010 Building Cleaning Workers‑1 job title to the 37‑2010 Building Cleaning Workers‑2 job title, the eligibility requirements in Personnel Rule 303.08 Broad Group Level Advancement must be satisfied, as well as the following criteria:

  • Has one (1) year of experience functioning as a Building Cleaning Worker‑1
  • Receives a satisfactory performance evaluation and is free of discipline, pursuant to Personnel Rule 1003.01, for one year immediately prior to promotion
  • Is up to date on all mandatory in‑house training
  • Receives a performance‑based recommendation for promotion from the supervisor

Building Cleaning Worker II

  • Education/

    Experience:

    High School Diploma or equivalent credential.
  • License/Certification:
    None
  • Other Requirements:
    None
  • Trainee Option:
    Not applicable

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the methods and practices of cleaning services in a large complex, health facility, or building
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
  • Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment and safety
  • Ability to read and write and to prepare both written and oral reports
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
