Environmental Services Floor Technician

Join Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. As an Environmental Services Floor Technician, you will play an important role in supporting infection prevention, patient safety, and overall hospital operations through specialized floor care and environmental services responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in hands-on work, enjoys working independently and as part of a team, and wants to grow within a respected healthcare organization.

Essential Functions

  • Sweeping, mopping, waxing, stripping, and polishing floors throughout the hospital
  • Operating high- and low-speed stripping and buffing machines
  • Vacuuming and shampooing carpets in assigned areas
  • Dusting and polishing furniture, fixtures, equipment, and woodwork
  • Cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, blinds, door glass, and related surfaces
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities and replenishing supplies
  • Emptying, cleaning, and sanitizing waste receptacles
  • Setting up tables, chairs, and equipment for hospital events and daily operations
  • Picking up debris around hospital buildings and grounds
  • Identifying and reporting building maintenance or safety concerns
  • Maintaining hospital cleanliness, infection prevention, and safety standards
  • Providing professional and courteous customer service to patients, visitors, and staff

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

2–3 years of experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals used in hospitals or healthcare settings required

Previous floor care, environmental services, housekeeping, or custodial experience preferred

Ability to operate floor care equipment or willingness to learn

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Good communication and comprehension skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as needed

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift
