Job DescriptionThe City of Dover Wastewater Department is accepting applications for the position of Sewer Line Operator. Applications must be received by July 22, 2026 at 4:00 pm to be considered for this posting.

Applications may be dropped off at the Mayor's Office or Service Director's Office, both are located at 321 North Wooster Avenue.
Work Schedule7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday and four hours every fourth weekend (May require after hours call-in work).
QualificationsUnder the direction of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent and the Assistant Wastewater Superintendent, performs semiskilled work progressing with additional experience and schooling to a skilled level in the operation and maintenance of the City sanitary sewer system under the leadership and guidance of the Sewer Line Crew Leader. Position requires a good knowledge of a variety of hydraulic and mechanical principles pertinent to the operation of a sanitary sewer collection system;
and knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. Must possess the ability to understand and to follow moderately complex oral and written instructions and diagrams and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, supervisors, and other employees.
Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license issued by the State of Ohio. Must possess a valid Ohio CDL, class B or higher with the proper endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 36 months from the date of appointment. Possession of a High School Diploma or GED. Position requires the successful candidate to be certified with a Class I Wastewater Collection System Certification or Class I Wastewater Operator Certification as issued by the State of Ohio within 36 months from the date of appointment.
