Duties Major Duties:
This is not an all-inclusive list As a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-1670-9, you will:
* Serves as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment.
* Provides instruction and assistance regarding equipment maintenance procedures, techniques, and methods as a part of the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT).
* Provides advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities.
* Receives reviews, and processes unit Army Material Status System (AMSS) reports and Missile Material Readiness reports and submits a consolidated report to the Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA).
* Prepares and conducts both classroom and on-the-job training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel.
* Evaluates directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel.
* Recommends policy, procedure, or operation changes, as required, to facilitate and ensure efficiency in maintenance operations and manpower utilization.
* Reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management and needs for improvement of existing practices and the impact on the overall maintenance program.
* Reviews and evaluates information in technical reports, logistical studies, supply data systems, and observations/inspections of maintenance organizations.
* Utilizes computer software programs to identify errors, equipment, non-mission capable time, and to determine a course of action to improve readiness.
* Recommends the revision of higher headquarters' policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.
* Provides methods for improving, consolidating, simplifying, and standardizing operations and management of maintenance activities.
* Performs hands on maintenance procedures to personnel on proper trade techniques, practices, and explains safety precautions involved in maintenance.
* Performs assistance visits to logistic and maintenance functional areas to provide guidance and assistance to ensure effective and smooth maintenance operations. Requirements Conditions of employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS :
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
Military Rank:
Officer, Warrant Officer, Enlisted Max Grade/Rank: O3/CPT Compatible Military Assignments: O: 88A, 90A, 91A, 92A WO;
91, 92, 94 or MOS 882A. ENL: CMF 88, 91,92, 94.
* Military membership in the Utah National Guard is required.
* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Pending analysis, you may be required to complete a new 1-year probationary period when moved to this position IAW CNGBI 1400.25.
* For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
* Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
* Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire.
* Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
* This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
* Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
