- Understanding and applying the operating principles, purpose, proper application, and design limitations of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical circuits such as chillers, compressors, cooling towers, pumps, flow meters, fans, thermostats, humidistats, heat exchangers, and recorders.
- Setting up, operating, and reading precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer's specification of accuracy, including leak detectors, pressure gauges, thermometers, psychrometers, velometers, and similar devices.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions, making repairs or adjustments to existing components, and identifying replacement or substitute components.
- Maintaining control logic program design and modifications to 3M building HVAC Unit controls.
- Completing the required shop paperwork and using the reporting system following established procedures, such as Daily Work Records, P.M. Route Sheets, Stock Withdrawal forms, and other forms and records required in the performance of the job.
This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre‑employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position.
Your Skills And ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.
- Associate degree or certification in a two‑year program in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (completed and verified prior to start)
- Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Craft area within the past seven (7) years
- Universal Refrigeration Certification
- Possess a current and valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of operating principles of mechanical and electromechanical components used in the measurement and control of temperature, humidity, and air flow
- A demonstrated mechanical background
- The starting rate of pay for this position is $47.12. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and Retirement Benefits).
