The Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and inviting environment for Agency customers and employees. The Custodian performs a wide variety of routine cleaning and maintenance needs for the office building(s) and other assigned sub‑offices as outlined within the job description.
Qualifications- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Education may be waived with significant job‑related experience.
- Experience: Less than 1 year.
- Authorization: Valid Driver’s License; BCA Background Study.
- Work Environment: Conventional – Office model.
- Skills: Excellent oral and/or written communications skills.
- Ability: Ability to manage time that results in both a satisfactory quantity and quality of work.
- Ability: Support the Mission of the Agency through daily work and while representing the Agency in public.
- Ability: Have general knowledge of programs and activities of the Agency.
- Ability: Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability: Must be able to handle diverse work problems on a daily basis.
- Ability: Must be able to organize a work schedule, set priorities and work effectively to meet deadlines without supervision.
- Ability: Must be able to adjust to changes necessitated by last‑minute assignments and deadline requests that may prove stressful.
- Ability: Ability to effectively work across differences, especially socio‑economic and cultural differences.
- Attend trainings, classes and meetings as necessary to improve job skills and maintain an acceptable level of job performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
This job description is not intended to be all‑inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned.
Area 1:Program Operations
- Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Performs routine maintenance activities.
- Complete Custodial Work Requests Forms by priority when provided by Administrative Services Director.
- Ability to articulate and carry out appropriate emergency procedures.
- Keep sidewalks and awnings, in front and back of facility, clean, swept and clear of ice, snow and debris.
- Sweeps, mops, or scrubs floors daily. Cleaning linoleum/tiled floors by buffing and waxing as needed.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms daily. To include: mopping floor, cleaning sink and toilet, and replenishing soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
- Emptying of waste and recycling baskets daily.
- Vacuum and cleaning (shampooing as needed) carpeted floors daily.
- General cleaning and maintenance to include: washing walls, dusting, washing tables and chairs, cleaning windows and partitions.
- General maintenance of building to include: exterior walls, doors and locks, handrails, roof, light repair, painting, etc.
- Cleaning of parking lot area; ground keeping maintenance. Cement surface maintenance.
- Maintaining building equipment and furniture, such as furnaces, air conditioning units, desks, shelves, files cabinets, etc.
