Service Advisor

Summary

Responsible for selling, identifying, documenting, and scheduling service, maintenance, and repair for customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

• Work with customer and technician to identify required maintenance.
• Advise customers on necessary and recommended services.
• Offer additional services and repairs to customers.
• Compute cost of replacement parts and labor to restore vehicle to customer’s specified condition.
• Estimate cost of mechanical, electrical, or other repairs.
• Enter itemized estimate on service order and explain estimate to customer.
• Schedule appointments with customer.
• Meet dealership’s standards for repair and order production.
• Maintain CSI at or above company standards.
• Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
• Participate in required training.
• Record all hours worked accurately in company time‑keeping system.
• Follow Safeguards rules and regulations.
• Demonstrate the company’s core values.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Observe all federal, state, local and company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Knowledge and working experience in automotive or customer service industries.
• Working knowledge of the mechanical operations of vehicles.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Desired education:
  High School Diploma (GED acceptable), Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, Doctorate Degree.
• Desired work experience: up to 3 years, 3‑5 years, or 5+ years.
• Valid driver’s license;
  Automobile Salesperson license (if applicable).
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of dealership management system and other web‑based applications used for operations.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions; communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
• Regular and predictable attendance; scheduled shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to talk or hear regularly; stand, walk, sit frequently; tolerance for noise, vibration, exhaust fumes and other repair conditions.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to apply common sense and understand standardized situations.
