McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Utility Mechanic to work the 2nd Shift (1:30pm - 10pm, Mon-Fri) at the Hunt Valley Plant
, located at 11100 McCormick Road in Hunt Valley, MD

Position Overview: Under the general supervision of Maintenance Leadership, this position will maintain packaging, blending, and fermentation equipment across multiple departments and is responsible for completing planner/corrective, predictive, and preventative equipment inspection, improvement, and safety work orders to established procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Lubricate, maintain, and evaluate equipment for proper adjustment. Focus on replacing grease fittings, managing selection, application, and periodic consolidation of lubrication oils and greases, including re-greasing intervals and volume, lubrication troubleshooting, and creation of improved lubrication systems or methods focusing on environmental, health, and safety issues.
  • Team participation (AM, CI, TPM) and consistent interaction, 90% on the floor, supporting production.
  • Maintain and improve preventive maintenance sheets and daily checklists with specific actionable information.
  • Respond to trouble calls on production/process equipment and facilities, performing handoffs before and after shifts with maintenance and production counterparts.
  • Demonstrate capability to utilize resources to continuously improve personal/individual skill levels related to core job duties; flexible with shift and workday assignments to support business needs and reduce overtime.
Required Qualifications
  • Consistently “Meets Standards” for attendance on annual performance review.
  • “Meets Standards” in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably food processing).
  • Ability to read, navigate, and interpret multiple computerized data collection and data entry.
  • Experience overhauling and rebuilding automated equipment (e.g., replacing bearings, shafts, and drives using tools such as drills, saws, grinders, presses, welders, wrenches).
  • Working experience with preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics, engineering and machine diagrams, and drawings; capable of working from blueprints independently.
  • Basic math functions (ruler, micrometer), understanding of reading and writing instructions for manuals and sketch drawings.
  • Logical thinking, independent judgment, and detail orientation to solve problems.
  • Experience working safely, effectively, and accurately in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and influence peer-to-peer relationships.
  • Flexible and adaptable to business needs, including shift and workday assignments to support business needs and reduce overtime.
  • Physical ability to move/lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
