Description
As a hands-on leader, the Streets Supervisor directs and works alongside maintenance crews to maintain and repair public streets. This role involves overseeing daily operations, training staff, supporting safe work practices, and performing technical tasks related to streets maintenance. The Streets Supervisor plays an important role in keeping roads safe and functional while managing resources and responding to community concerns.

Essential Job Duties
What You'll Do in This Role:
- Lead and supervise a streets maintenance crew, including training staff, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and following safety and workplace standards.
- Inspect contractor work to confirm it meets specifications and recommend changes as needed.
- Plan and coordinate repairs, design solutions, and order parts and supplies.
- Estimate time, materials, and equipment for projects and request needed supplies.
- Maintain operational records and complete required reports.
- Operate street maintenance equipment and train staff on proper use.
- Perform and oversee concrete and asphalt work, including construction, excavation, patching, sealing, and storm sewer installation.
- Install and maintain street signs following applicable regulations.
- Paint street markings, including crosswalks, curbs, and traffic control symbols.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices and barricades for work zones.
- Operate heavy equipment such as Bobcats, dump trucks, backhoes, Vactor trucks, snowplows, front-end loaders, and forklifts.
- Respond to community inquiries, inspect reported issues, and route concerns to the appropriate department.
You Have:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least five years of maintenance experience, including three years operating street maintenance equipment. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- A valid Class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements.
- Flagger certification.
- Have experience leading, training, and supporting staff.
- Understand common workplace hazards and safe work practices, including Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (MUTCD) guidelines and applicable regulations.
- Can safely operate and maintain trucks, tools, and street maintenance equipment.
- Have working knowledge of stormwater practices, erosion control, and traffic laws.
- Can assess problems, identify solutions, and follow through with effective repairs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and community members.
