Physical Plant Services (PPS) supports the educational and public service programs of Fort Lewis College through the delivery of effective operational support, maintenance services and the management of the College’s facilities construction program.

Services are provided by the Service Center, Custodial Services,Electrical Systems, Electronic Equipment Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Equipment Maintenance, Mechanical Systems Maintenance,Structural Maintenance and Planning, Design & Construction workunits.

This position will provide general labor services for Physical Plant Services with special emphasis on materials handling, minorvehicle and equipment service, grounds duties, custodial duties,snow removal and assisting other work units within the department

This position is an essential services position and required towork during inclement weather, campus special events and emergencies. This position is eligible for overtime whenpreapproved by the supervisor, eligible for call back pay, shift differential when applicable and is covered under the Colorado Partnership for Quality Jobs & Services Act.

Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications

• Work experience in a higher education institution
• Work experience with an online work order system
• Basic vehicle maintenance experience
• Basic equipment maintenance experience

• Basic computer skills for timesheet entry, online training courses, work orders, emails and SDS sheets
• Reading, writing and oral comprehension

• This is an essential services position and must be able to work during inclement weather, special events, and emergencies. If thecampus is closed due to inclement weather, this position must beable to get to work on time to assist with weather emergencies.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver license. Must bein possession of the license at the time of application.
• A final job offer is contingent upon the satisfactory review ofthe driving record by the College insurance agent and the satisfactory driving record must be maintained throughout employment in order to drive a campus vehicle.
• Must be able to exert 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or inexcess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
• Must work in proximity to moving, mechanical parts.
• May encounter exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
• Works with the following environmental conditions:
  Exposure toweather, extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid conditions,noise, vibration and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, noxiousodors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation, that affects the respiratory system, eyes or the skin.

• Set up & break down equipment for special events andathletic events including transport, layout, set up and take downtables, chairs, risers, platforms, curtains, tents, canopies, floorprotectors, etc.
• Assist with trash and recycling for the campus. Pick up andempty trash containers on campus and deliver refuse to centralcontainers utilizing truck or service cart.
• Move office furniture and campus equipment as requestedutilizing hand trucks, dollies and other moving devices.
• Assembling/ disassembling office furniture as required for transport or final set-up
