$19.87 - $21.90/Hour
Shift / HoursMonday-Friday; hours vary between 6:30 am and 3:00 pm; some evenings and weekends.
This is a temporary position that will end by October 30, 2026. Evenings and weekends may be required.
- Performs basic maintenance of equipment including inspecting equipment; resolves basic equipment issues, including performing minor fixture and other repairs, basic installations, and basic plumbing, painting, and carpentry duties; reports more complex repair issues to higher-level staff; and operates small equipment and tools.
- Performs manual and semi-skilled labor; assists with painting, repairing, and replacing floors, and with mixing and pouring concrete; transports, unloads, and carries materials.
- Provides customer service by responding to customer questions and concerns and providing information on established policies and procedures.
- Maintains records; performs data entry; generates work orders; performs inventory check; recommends supply orders; and picks up or delivers supplies.
- Performs weekend work and special projects such as playground installations.
- Observes necessary safety precautions and follows appropriate procedures.
- Loads and unloads equipment and materials, secures equipment on trailers, maintains, and fuels equipment, and verifies trucks are stocked with all necessary supplies.
- Performs mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and cleanup of all assigned parks, restrooms, and shelters to adopted maintenance standards. Removes brush, limbs, and debris, cleans storm drains, sprays weeds, removes silt and dirt from walks.
- Completes assigned work orders.
- Sets up and tears down equipment for rentals and special events, as assigned.
- Performs janitorial, housekeeping, and custodial duties, as assigned to adopted maintenance standards.
- Cleans, and maintains floors and other indoor and outdoor areas.
- Empties trash, dusts, sanitizes bathrooms, cleans mirrors and windows, replenishes sanitation items, and conducts custodial inspections.
- Strips and waxes floors, cleans carpets, pressure washes assigned areas.
- Sets up and tears down equipment for rentals and special events, and opens/closes facilities, as assigned.
- Occasional special assignments may include blowing and clearing walkways as well as mowing and trimming grass/weeds.
- Maintenance work, light carpentry, painting, and operation of small engine equipment.
- Athletic turf maintenance (when assigned to outdoor parks).
- Knowledge of cleaning, stripping, and waxing commercial floors (when assigned to indoor recreation facilities).
- Ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines.
- Safely and properly operating professional maintenance equipment. May include professional cleaning equipment, operating commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, and trucks.
- Driving and backing landscape trailers.
- Working in inclement weather.

- Adjusting to a variety of different assignments daily.
- Inspecting and cleaning equipment.
- Performing minor repairs on equipment and fixtures.
- Quality-checking finished work.
- Requires the ability to read, write and follow directions.
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
1 year of experience in commercial mowing and landscaping.
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in semi-skilled manual labor (i.e. mowing, weed eating, etc.)
- Experience operating commercial lawn maintenance equipment such as Zero Turn Riding mowers.
- Willingness to work flexible work hours and schedules.
