Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
Position Summary
General responsibility for the installation, 24/7, day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, and modification of all KBI Biopharma site systems. This position includes repairs, troubleshooting, and both corrective (repair/unplanned modification) and preventative (planned) maintenance of associated systems and equipment. The technician works both independently and as part of a team, exercising considerable independent judgment and initiative to solve challenging or complex issues. The role requires the ability to react productively to change and to perform other essential tasks as assigned.
Shift: Night (10pm–8am, Sunday–Wednesday).
Perform corrective and preventative maintenance of architectural, structural/civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process equipment, and utility equipment, following approved procedures where applicable.
- Diagnose and repair facilities, equipment, and systems, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic circuits—motors, pumps, compressors, boilers, chillers, and purified and domestic water systems—using manuals, SOPs, specifications and other aids.
- Provide recommendations and assistance with the implementation of methods, procedures and techniques for improving maintenance of existing or new systems, and with root‑cause investigations of system failures.
- Prepare documents such as maintenance, quality and other reports, following good documentation practices including deviations, corrective and preventative actions (CAPA), change controls and SOP revisions.
- Monitor the work of others, including contracted suppliers and service providers.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent; hands‑on or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as a general maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A.S./A.A. degree in Mechanical/Utilities Technology, or a licensed journeyman with a minimum of two (2) years of work experience.
- Prior experience with general utility systems, boilers, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Universal CFC refrigerant license preferred.
- Experience in a cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
