About the Position

Position Title:

Maintenance/Construction Technician II (S)

Location:

CA Dillon Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), Butner, NC.

Department:
Department of Public Safety, Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, grounds, equipment, and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and complete assigned work orders with minimal supervision, addressing maintenance issues in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Assist in maintaining grounds and operate groundskeeping equipment, ensuring exterior areas of the facility are well‑kept and functional.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to discuss non‑routine or complex maintenance tasks and ensure proper resolution of maintenance challenges.
  • Participate in cross‑training opportunities within the Facility Maintenance Group to support a flexible and knowledgeable maintenance team.
  • Assist with a variety of general maintenance‑related duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall upkeep and functionality of the facility.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman‑level skill in at least one trade such as carpentry, cabinet making, roofing, or painting.
  • Working knowledge of additional trades.
  • Must have a valid driver's license upon hire.
  • Grade NC06. Salary Range: $34,270–$59,973.
Work Schedule

This is a full‑time position, 40 hours per week. Typical hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The role is considered essential and may require on‑call status and presence during weather conditions.
