Hiring Range: $46,762.00 - $54,147.00/Annual
Hours:
6:30am - 3:00pm Monday-Friday; some evenings and weekends required
Provide professional level grounds keeping services for City of Durham parks including removal of all trash and debris from parks; blowing cleaning of hard surfaces, shelters, and courts; and cleaning of park restrooms. Provide park and grounds cleanup and event setup services on weekends and as needed. Perform seasonal projects as assigned, including winter leaf pickup, brush clearing, snow and ice removal, storm cleanup, and athletic field maintenance.
Employee will be required to use a City issued smart phone and asset management software (Cityworks) to document work completion. Employee will be required to operate special park cleanup (packer) trucks. Employee must be reliable and punctual (ability to work assigned schedule).
- Coordinates and/or performs custodial and collection operations including assigning, inspecting, and/or performing cleaning operations; as assigned, picks up residential trash, cleans and maintains floors, maintains grounds, cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, and sets up and tears down events.
- Performs technical work, service checks, and preventative maintenance on electronic and other applicable equipment, systems, and vehicles; administers and schedules repairs; tracks equipment recalls; replaces defective equipment or parts; and operates light‑duty equipment, power tools.
- Maintains supply inventory; stocks equipment; gathers and compiles information, prepares routine reports; maintains records and databases; and proofs work for accuracy and completeness.
- Provides customer service; responds to customer questions and concerns; resolves or escalates issues; and provides information on policies and procedures.
- Leading a custodial crew and performing cleaning services, including maintaining facility cleanliness.
- Maintaining custodial supplies.
- Assigning and inspecting work.
- Leading a crew, including assigning and inspecting work, with park landscaping responsibilities along with those relating to turf care, mowing, athletic field and/or ballfield maintenance.
- Performs technical work, service checks, and preventative maintenance on landscaping, turf care, and other applicable equipment, systems, and vehicles; administers and schedules repairs; tracks equipment recalls; replaces defective equipment or parts; and operates light‑duty equipment, power tools.
- Coordinates work maintaining grounds. Will be assigned to clean and sanitize bathrooms and set ups and tear downs for special events.
- Maintains supply inventory; stocks equipment; gathers and compiles information, prepares routine reports; maintains records and databases; and proofs work for accuracy and completeness.
- Provides customer service; responds to customer questions and concerns; resolves or escalates issues; and provides information on policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Operating light‑duty equipment and power tools such as, but not limited to, mowers, trimmers, brush cutter, edger, sod cutter, aerator, seeder, and chain saw.
- Using tablets computers to manage autonomous mowing systems.
- Driving a truck with a trailer between work sites.
- Using sprayers or injectors to apply fertilizer, herbicide, plant growth regulators (PGR).
- Using and maintaining a pump and tank to apply irrigation, or using and maintaining existing irrigation systems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
- Three years of equipment operation/driving or specialized maintenance experience based on assignment.
- A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is required for radio installation, custodial services, cemetery services, landscape services (ROW, Interchange, Downtown and Horticulture) and traffic systems assignments that include driving between multiple facilities and/or locations to perform work or transfer equipment.
- Willing to work a flex schedule (evenings, weekends, and/or holidays).
- Experience using a smart phone.
- Willing to work in inclement weather (rainy, snowy, ice, hot/cold, etc.).
- NC Pesticide license.
