Description of Work This Position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women. This is supervisory work or highly skilled work in the general maintenance, repair and/or construction of buildings, related equipment, and plumbing, heating/cooling, and/or electrical systems. This position will require work in the evening and weekends.

Duties Include:

Perform at the journey level in a mechanical trade with experience in at leastone or more other trade areas to perform work assignments.

Review facility conditions to identify areas that require ongoing preventive maintenance and continuous repair of water/piping systems throughout the facility.

Extensive knowledge of pneumatic mixing valves, domestic water systems,non-potable water systems, heating/cooling piping, and boiler.

Knowledge of replacing and repairing commodes, sinks, water coolers, water heaters, garbage disposal, dishwasher, shower valves, water faucets, flushvalves, and other related fixtures and equipment.

Supervise the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labor (includingoffenders) to assist in completing assigned tasks and provide support toother staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenanceor other duties assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary.

About The Division of I nstitutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
