The Water Utility Technician performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and reading of water meters. Additional responsibilities include maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines and other related tasks as needed.

• Perform skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and reading of water meters.
• Maintain and repair water and sewer lines and related tasks as needed.

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED.
• Experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water lines is helpful but not required.
• Prefer applicant with basic knowledge of computers and willingness to learn meter reading software and hardware operation.
• Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina. Prefer applicants with Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain within 12 months.

The hiring range for this position is $37,164 - $41,561. Halifax County provides a comprehensive employee benefits package, including membership in the North Carolina Local Government Employees’ Retirement System.
