Housekeeper Specialist

Positional Summary

Perform routine manual tasks necessary to maintain Duke University buildings and facilities.

• Clean and service assigned areas in University buildings and maintain sufficient stock and supplies.
• Sweep, mop, buff floors, vacuum rugs and carpets, clean rest rooms and offices, replenish supplies.
• Wash windows, walls and other assigned areas. Pick up trash, empty garbage containers, move all trash to disposal area.
• Sanitize trash containers to meet Health Department requirements and keep a running log of calls and baggage stored.
• Pack, unpack and assist in receiving, issuing and transporting materials; report items that need reordering.
• Aid in transferring items between departments and throughout the University.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
• Perform related duties as assigned to meet departmental, Division and University goals and objectives as directed by Supervisor, Director, or designees.

• Education
  :
  Ability to understand and follow instructions; partial high school education.
• Experience
  :
  None required; or any other equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

• Move throughout residential buildings.
• Move heavy weighted materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Self‑movement/positioning to reach and clean under or behind furniture.
• Reach materials on shelving units or clean higher areas such as light fixtures and shelving.
• Transport and stock assigned supplies and materials.
