This position is responsible for proper care and upkeep of site facilities and equipment in a museum context. This includes maintaining site equipment and maintaining cleanliness of buildings. This position will also assist with visitor services, historic interpretation, and special events.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- General maintenance duties including maintenance/repair of buildings & groundskeeping
- Provide site orientation to visitors
- Administrative and supervisory duties
- Assisting with special events or programs

Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 - $42,923.00

Minimum QualificationsCandidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are not required.
Applicants who possess the following are preferred:- Experience in property maintenance and/or upkeep
- Experience in equipment maintenance
- Experience with collections care and artifact management
- Experience in public speaking and working with visitors or the public
- Experience assisting with special events or programs
- Must have the ability to work the schedule of Tuesday - Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional nights and weekends
- Must have the a bility to work in a variety of weather conditions
- Must have the ability to talk to large groups for a prolonged amount of time
- Must have the a bility to navigate uneven terrain

Minimum Education and Experience- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
- OR
- a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades;
- OR
- an equivalent combination of education and experience
Town Creek Indian Mound State Historic Site is part of the NC Division of State Historic Sites. Town Creek preserves and interprets the location of a large and extensively excavated archaeological site that contains the remains of 12,000 years of human habitation and use, including a prehistoric, man-made earthen mound. It is the only State Historic Site dedicated to American Indian history and one of only a few to include archaeology as part of interpretation.
