Job Title: Controls Technician

Location: Central and Eastern North Carolina

Salary Range: $25 to $30 per hour

Our client, a leading Trane independent office, is seeking a Controls Technician to join their team. The Controls Technician will be responsible for programming, technical checkout, owner training, and assisting in subcontractor coordination on Building Automation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with Trane, Tridium, and/or Teletrol building automation, but experience with other control manufacturers such as Johnson Controls, Schneider, Honeywell, Siemens, Distech, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Configure, setup, and calibrate end devices on factory or field installed hardware
  • Create and program site databases
  • Utilize Checkout documentation provided by engineering to verify system performance
  • Examine and troubleshoot communication Links and Local Area Networks
  • Provide technical assistance to installation sub-contractors as required
  • Identify, analyze and diagnose BAS and system problems through remote interface means or directly while on site
  • Ensure documentation procedures are followed as an ongoing process
  • Maintain accurate and complete project notes that can be used by engineering for As-Built drawings
  • Ensure project database and graphics database are backed up to network drive at job completion
  • Provide remote access information for sites to Virtual Service
  • Represent company by serving as a direct customer contact, working to develop, maintain, and enhance customer relationships
  • Provide on-site Owner Training Classes for customers
  • Participate in ongoing training opportunities (TPC, Online webinars, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable with the products and services offered by the company and effective in the sales of those products and services
  • Inspect, maintain, and complete necessary repairs for all company provided materials including fleet vehicle, tools, equipment
  • Maintain service uniform wear such as hats, shirts, pants, and shoes to ensure compliance with company dress code
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, legal regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Collaborate with all Associates to uphold the company's mission and values
  • Travel 50% of the time is required
Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of various communications protocols used in the industry including BACnet, Lon Talk and Modbus; familiarity with networking applications, Ethernet, TCP-IP, IP Networks and infrastructure
  • Proficiency with computer devices (including laptops, tablets, and smart phones) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Apple iOS software
  • Proficiency with applicable maintenance tools, connected login, and operational renderings
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
Physical Demands & Environmental Exposure

The employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear and use hands/fingers in order to grasp/handle/feel. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb up and down ladders and/or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires frequent working outdoors, inside mechanical/equipment rooms, and regular exposure to extreme inside/outside weather conditions, live voltage, moving mechanical parts, and heavy equipment. Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated and/or precarious workplaces, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with periodic on-call basis for Controls Service program and overtime/weekends as required.
