Overview

The Board of Education of Middlesex County Magnet Schools is accepting applications for the Custodian position for the  school year. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain a Boiler-Fireman Low-Pressure (Black Seal) License within one year of employment.

• Open and close the school each day.
• Supervise all custodians under their authority.
• Oversee custodial operations to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment; carry out required tasks to maintain and operate the building to the required standards.
• Schedule daily tasks, supervise custodians, and participate in daily cleaning of facilities.
• Monitor and regulate HVAC systems to maintain appropriate seasonal temperatures and ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
• Participate in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of custodial staff.
• Maintain inventory and recommend purchasing of supplies, tools, equipment, and fuel.
• Monitor time records of custodians and certify them for salary payment.
• Provide evaluations of custodians' performance in accordance with board policy.
• Complete custodial and building condition reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and environmental regulations related to building maintenance and operation.
• Plan and monitor the school 1s shipping and receiving function.
• Ensure hazardous materials are properly handled, stored, and disposed of.
• Assume all performance responsibilities of the custodian job description.
• Create schedules for custodians aligned with the building's needs, including cleaning and work order requests.
• Oversee monthly fire-extinguisher requirements and update labels accordingly.
• Ensure daily boiler room inspections are completed to ensure proper boiler operation.
• Perform any duties assigned by the Building Principal/Director of Facilities/Custodial Supervisor within the scope of employment.

License:
Boiler-Fireman Low-Pressure (Black Seal) or ability to obtain within one year of employment. Prior custodial supervisory experience is preferred.

Salary Range: $44,309 – $66,509 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and professional credentials.
