Position Summary

Join the dynamic Custodial team and help support MSU's mission of advancing knowledge and transforming lives. You will use standard cleaning methods, equipment, and procedures in a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment to keep MSU’s facilities clean, safe, and inviting.

Pay rate: $19.15 - $20.16 upon meeting probationary period requirements. MSU Benefits include comprehensive health care for you and your family and a 10% retirement contribution; generous sick, vacation, personal and holiday time. This position is not eligible for remote work; regular, in‑person attendance is required to meet business and customer needs.

This position will work in Anthony Hall, Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM. After‑hours, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

This role involves performing cleaning and maintenance activities; following verbal or written instructions; reading chemical, biological, or radioactive warning signs; snow removal with a shovel or snow blower; maintaining training information for custodial methods, equipment, and products; and using appropriate methods, products, and equipment to achieve acceptable cleaning standards.

• 40% – Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming of hard surface and carpeted floors using appropriate equipment (vacuum, mop, broom); clean and maintain assigned equipment.
• 20% – Clean and disinfect restrooms including showers, toilets, urinals, sinks, towel dispensers, and mirrors.
• 20% – Dust and wash windows, mirrors, interior glass, track systems, venetian blinds, and ledges. Dust furniture and furnishings; move items as needed. Empty waste containers and sort recycling materials within the building.
• 10% – Spot clean to remove splash marks around sinks and fingerprints from light switches. Clean and polish sinks, shower heads, and fountains.
• 10% – Handle correspondence via email, participate in training, meetings, and professional development.

This position engages in high‑performing, leading‑edge practices, values people, partners, and stewardship.

• One year of experience with commercial or institutional cleaning methods, techniques, and equipment.
• Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Experience in maintaining wood floors. A creative innovator dedicated to continuous learning, with proven ability to communicate effectively across stakeholder groups. Strong technical expertise and a collaborative problem solver who identifies challenges and implements solutions that support and advance University priorities.
