The Connecticut Department of Correction is recruiting for current openings at Corrigan Correctional Center in Montville and York Correctional Institution in East Lyme for the position of Correctional Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician.

* This is a Hazardous Duty Position and offers a pension plan, the State Employees Retirement System Tier IV. As a Hazardous Duty employee, you will be eligible to retire after just 25 years of service, regardless of your age.

Position Highlights
* This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position on first shift. Schedule is Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
* Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
* Maintain steam, hot water heating and chill water piping/distribution systems;
* Maintain ventilation distribution, fan and HVAC systems;
* Maintain steam and hot water boilers;
* Maintain chilled water piping/distribution systems and chilled water (chillers) systems;
* Maintain cell ventilation and duct work;
* Supervising assigned inmates at a Correctional Institution;
* Keeping record of tool/inventory control;
* Protecting the health and safety of the public, staff and inmates;
* Snow and ice removal to maintain safe access for the police, medical, staff and public;
* Maintaining mandated compliances with Federal & State statute and agency directives and policies by assuring humane conditions of confinement in the facility through repair and maintenance.

Selection Plan
Selected candidates will be required to attend a 14 week hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development located in Cheshire, CT.
