Monday-Friday; 8.0 hours/day; 3 pm - 11:30 pm
Functional
Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to perform overall cleaning of assigned rooms in district facilities to ensure learning environments provide sanitary, safe, and hospitable presence at all times.
Essential/Core
Job Functions:
- Assist with overall cleanliness of assigned rooms, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, board cleaning, emptying wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners, cleaning windows and mirrors, cleaning walls, and filling dispensers.
- Clean any spills in carpeted areas and wet mop spills on hard surfaces.
- Remove all trash and debris.
- Clean all restrooms and fixtures in assigned room.
- Place trash in assigned areas.
Secondary
Job Functions:
- Maintain custodial tools and equipment in good working order.
- Maintain neat and orderly supply closets and follow safety guidelines on approved products.
- Assist with overall cleanliness of common areas, including corridor, lobby, and common restroom areas, limited to daily cleaning (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, wet mopping, wall cleaning, and glass cleaning).
- Conduct corrective cleaning (wall and glass cleaning inside and out, graffiti removal, cleaning of light fixtures).
- Report any maintenance problems.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Education, Training and/Or Experience Requirements:
High school graduation or equivalent.

Certifications:
- Maintain updated state required clearances.
Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Preferred knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, safety practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and related safety precautions in assigned areas.
- Ability to read and understand material safety data information on chemicals and materials used.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner and sprayer.
- Interpersonal skills for effective teamwork, including conflict management.
- Skill in adapting to fluid work situations or changes in expectations, procedures, or technology.
Physical Work Demands:
- Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, or stooping to inspect work and handle resources.
- Ability to ascend or descend ladders or stairs.
- Ability to reach above and below shoulder level.
- Occasional sitting on the floor to work with materials or equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Near and far acuity to monitor people, equipment, other objects, or vehicles.
- Ability to walk around work area to perform tasks.
- Ability to balance on narrow walking platforms.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone.
May be required to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. and frequently lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. such as buckets of water, vacuum, and trash.
