Job Description
We are currently hiring for a Leaks /Locates Specialist to join our team. To apply, please visit our website or complete an application for employment and return to our Corporate Office (420 S. Doolittle Rd., Edinburg, TX 78542).
Description of Duties- Use a variety of techniques such as electrical, magnetic, blueprint analysis, and radar to locate and measure depth of water lines and to locate water leaks within the system.
- Document interactions, site information, and line information in appropriate systems.
- Communicate with engineers and management as needed.
- Participate in job‑specific training and other corporate training programs.
- Comply with federal and state regulations and all corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma and up to three months of related experience.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions.
- Current Texas Driver License and insureability by the corporation’s insurance underwriter.
- Obtain a Class D Water License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and a Waste Water Operator license through TCEQ within 12 months of hire.
- Stay current with the following schools:
Utility Safety, Unit I Basic Water, Unit 5 Distribution, and Waste Water I. - Good communication skills to effectively present information to management, employees, and outside agencies.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) and Spanish (verbal).
- Basic mathematics skills (addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers, multiplication and division by tens and hundreds) for monetary or weight calculations.
- Good judgment and discretion in daily duties.
- Flexible work schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the workweek and on call 24 hours a day.
- Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods, bend, stop, and lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures when working outdoors in summer and winter.
Prior experience working for a water supply corporation or water utility is preferred.
