Position Summary: To provide routine manual services to assure clean, orderly and sanitary conditions in and around the Hospital. Follow all directives and regulatory guidelines. Be willing to be cross‑trained in different areas and flexible in duties. Present yourself professionally and friendly to patients, visitors and staff. Follow all guidelines explained in policies, procedures, and employee handbook.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
- Ability to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
- Good written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration and physicians.
Job Knowledge /
Experience:
- One to six (1‑6) months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hospital experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Promote the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others and consider them in developing services, standards and practices.
- Perform all assigned tasks professionally to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
- Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Use and maintain equipment properly.
- Assist visitors with directions when requested.
- Always introduce self to patients, families and visitors.
- Report safety hazards as appropriate.
- Transport trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
- Follow all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.
- Maintain set quality standards when performing job duties.
- Work day, evening or night shift as assigned.
- Perform work independently with normal supervision.
- Observe safety precautions at all times.
- Maintain and ensure age‑specific precautions.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health‑care errors.
- Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated instructions.
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. Attend the DHR C.A.R.E.S program outlining the Customer Service Principles (Commitment, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, Service).
Age‑Specific: Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the assigned unit, including assessment, interpretation and application of age‑related data.
Physical Requirements: Light/moderate lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, walking, light/moderate carrying up to 50 lbs, pulling and pushing, bending, reaching above shoulder, climbing ladders, dual simultaneous grasping, depth perception, vision, operating office equipment, twisting, operating mechanical equipment, reading and writing, counting, hearing verbal communication, operating personal vehicle, comprehending written/verbal communication, and dealing with stress.
Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of time in an air‑conditioned environment with varying noise exposure. Low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids and minimal exposure to noxious cleaning agents.
Occupational Exposure: Minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. OSHA Category III.
