Fleet Maintenance Analyst

Reporting to the Fleet Administrator, the Fleet Maintenance Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, validating, and reporting fleet maintenance, vehicle utilization, compliance, and asset lifecycle data to support operational decision-making. This position serves as a key resource for fleet performance monitoring, regulatory reporting, contractor oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Fleet Maintenance Analyst maintains fleet databases, identifies trends and performance issues, develops reports and dashboards, and supports the administration of vehicle maintenance and certification programs across Access Services' contracted and agency-owned fleet.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure Access Services provides safe reliable and clean vehicles in operation for our clients.
  • Support the maintenance compliance of Access-supplied vehicles assigned to service providers and vehicles utilized for non-revenue activities, including certification, inspection, documentation, and service-readiness requirements.
  • Administer and support the provider vehicle certification program for contractor-provided, subcontractor, taxi, Access-owned, and Access staff vehicles used in service.
  • Perform vehicle inspections, facility inspections, and maintenance record reviews at provider locations throughout Los Angeles County to verify compliance with contractual and fleet maintenance requirements.
  • Inspect, certify, place into service, restrict, or remove vehicles from service when vehicle condition, documentation, certification, or contractual requirements are not met.
  • Maintain fleet information systems used to track vehicle inventory, mileage, registration, titles, insurance, certifications, qualification records, in-service dates, preventive maintenance, inspection status, and asset lifecycle status.
  • Support monthly and periodic reporting for internal management, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Administration (LACMTA), and other outside agencies as required.
  • Communicate with service provider maintenance staff regarding maintenance records, inspection findings, corrective actions, documentation deficiencies, certification status, and audit requests.
  • Support vehicle onboarding, new vehicle acceptance inspections, in-service inspections, equipment verification, vehicle assignments, transfers, California Department of Motor Vehicles registration activities, and final asset disposition.
  • Administer or support fleet technology systems, including telematics, vehicle gateways, dash cameras, asset tracking, digital inspection forms, electronic documentation repositories, reporting dashboards, and related connected-operations tools.

Education

Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) from an accredited college or university. Coursework, certificate, or training in automotive technology, fleet management, business administration, public administration, data analysis, transportation, or a related field is desirable.

Experience

  • Two or more years experience in administering databases for a private fleet or a dedicated contract carrier of 200 vehicles or more ; OR
  • Five years experience in vehicle maintenance for fleet maintenance shop or operation.
  • Experience with fleet compliance documentation, vehicle inspections, contractor record audits, telematics systems, digital inspection workflows, regulatory reporting, or asset lifecycle management is desirable.

Equivalency Provision

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered qualifying. A minimum of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Additional directly related professional experience in fleet maintenance, fleet administration, fleet analytics, transportation operations, or a related field may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses/Registrations

  • Class C Drivers' license with no more than one active point on record.
  • Motor Vehicle Report Authorization and Release required.

Certificates

  • ASE certification as a Service Consultant, additional certifications is desirable.
