Position: 4th Shift Maintenance Technician Supervisor - Fri–Sun 6pm–6am

AST Space Mobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX
, with full relocation provided.

Position Overview

AST Space Mobile is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to support weekend operations at our satellite production facility in Midland, TX. This role is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring facility reliability, and maintaining a safe, compliant, and fully operational environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical maintenance expertise with leadership capability, driving preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.

  • Pay: DOE/hour based on experience, with overtime opportunities. Higher‑level roles are available for more experienced candidates at increased pay.
  • Schedule:

    Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6am to 6pm with paid lunch and breaks and overtime availability.
  • Flexibility:
    Night and weekday shifts are also available depending on experience and team needs.
What you’ll do
  • Supervise and lead a team of Facilities Maintenance Technicians during weekend operations
  • Plan, assign, and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and facility‑related issues
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, safety policies, and company standards
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify risks, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Coordinate repairs, projects, and vendor activities as needed
  • Maintain maintenance logs, reports, and documentation for tracking and compliance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained and organized
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance oversight to team members
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues and support overtime needs as required
What You Bring
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Minimum 3+ years of facilities maintenance experience
  • 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • High school diploma or GED required (technical training preferred)
  • Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team in a fast‑paced environment
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing
  • Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 40 pounds as required
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment
  • Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces
  • Ability to read and identify colors of labels or signage
  • Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber)
