Electronic Technician Lead
Valiant is looking for a Electronic Technician Lead to join our team. The Electronic Technician Lead primarily performs and oversees installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and modification of critical low‑voltage electronic systems and associated wiring throughout the healthcare campus. As a working lead, this role focuses on ensuring the reliability and compliance of systems essential for life safety, patient care communications, and security within the hospital environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee, lead, mentor, and train employees to complete electronic‑related assigned tasks within established guidelines, safety protocols, and time frames.
- Schedule work, delegate tasks effectively, and manage team resources and manpower levels to accomplish the workload per the schedule.
- Inspect work performed by the electronic team for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Serve as a primary technical resource for the electronic team, providing expert guidance on complex issues, code interpretation, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Foster a strong safety culture within the team, championing adherence to all safety procedures.
- Provide the technical breakdown for all electronic in‑house Service Orders, including detailed estimates for materials and labor to support SO package development.
- Assist supervisor/manager with performance feedback for team members and identify training needs.
- May be required to review/audit unscheduled Work Orders and scheduled Preventative Maintenance documentation to ensure accuracy prior to submission for DMLSS entry.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all maintenance trades during assigned shift, ensuring effective coordination of multi‑trade activities and communication across departments.
- Assign and close out scheduled and unscheduled work requests.
- Lead shift operations by managing 24/7 365 shift coverage.
- Identify failures and accurately determine time and materials required for boiler repairs to support service order estimate generation.
- Maintain a high degree of housekeeping.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various low‑voltage systems including, but not limited to:
Fire Alarm Systems, Nurse Call Systems, Access Control Systems, Security Surveillance (CCTV) Systems, Public Address/Intercom Systems, Infant Protection Systems, and Structured Cabling (Data/Voice). - Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on life safety systems (especially Fire Alarm and Nurse Call) as required by NFPA, Joint Commission (JC), CMS, and other regulatory bodies.
- Respond to system failures and service calls, diagnose complex electronic system problems using appropriate test equipment, and perform necessary repairs efficiently to minimize downtime, particularly for patient care related systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and specifications for low‑voltage systems.
- Install and terminate various types of low‑voltage cabling, including copper (Cat5e/6/6A) and fiber optic cables, ensuring adherence to industry standards and code requirements.
- Program and configure basic components of low‑voltage systems (e.g., adding/deleting users in access control, configuring cameras, programming nurse call stations).
- Maintain documentation of all work performed, including inspections, testing results, repairs, and modifications, utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for regulatory compliance and departmental records.
- Coordinate work activities (installations, shutdowns, testing) with Facilities Management, IT Department, Clinical Departments, and external vendors to ensure safety and minimize disruption to hospital operations.
- Adhere strictly to hospital Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) protocols and safety procedures when working in patient care areas and throughout the facility.
- Maintain the general cleanliness and organization of work areas, including telecommunications closets and control rooms.
