Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of state buildings and indoor premises. Work involves maintaining restrooms and floors clean.

• Maintains cleanliness of state buildings and indoor premises.

• Responsible for maintaining client’s location clean. This pertains specifically to restrooms and floors within the building/office.
• Responsible for restroom maintenance, applying cleaning chemicals, mopping, spraying, waxing, and stripping floors.
• Ability to work with chemicals used for cleaning purposes.
• Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment in working order.
• Demonstrates excellent work habits, maintaining a good attitude.
• Ensure all safety rules are adhered to.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. and persons receiving services.
• Assists in other areas as requested.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to understand English/Spanish.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and be able to stand for long periods at a time; bend, reach and stretch repeatedly.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work indoors.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required; able to drive to other locations, as necessary.
• Must conduct themselves within the GIEP ethics policy.
• Must be able to work flexible hours.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers and people receiving services.
• Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

• Office environment.
• Ambulatory skills, e.g., stand, walk, bend, stoop.
• Hand-eye coordination and arm/hand/finger dexterity.
• Ability to talk, hear, and exercise visual acuity.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
• Ability to lift 10-25 pounds.
