Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Role Overview
This position performs skilled maintenance for the facilities department at Millennium Space Systems. Responsibilities include carpentry, painting, plumbing, grounds maintenance, electrical work, HVAC servicing, machine maintenance, and training of lower-level staff. The role is 100% onsite and requires working at one of the listed locations.
Position Responsibilities- Adhere to safe working practices and use required safety equipment.
- Identify and fix potential safety hazards.
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify issues.
- Apply preventative measures for safety and security of facilities and grounds.
- Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems.
- Maintain HVAC equipment to ensure proper climate control.
- Repair and maintain production equipment as assigned.
- Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies.
- Keep daily activity logs and records.
- Repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures.
- Perform custodial tasks as needed.
- Assist with structural pest control measures.
- Assist with monthly special events and office equipment moves.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to lower-level staff.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at varying heights and cramped spaces.
- Experience with aerospace production equipment (e.g., TVAC, thermocycle chambers, vibration operations).
- 5+ years of integration experience.
- EPA Universal license 608.
- NATE certification (HVAC).
- Level 1 infrared thermographer certification.
- Machine maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Security clearance.
- Programmable logic controller (PLC) experience.
- California building code knowledge.
This position requires eligibility for a U.S. security clearance; applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents and comply with export control regulations. A U.S. Top Secret clearance is required pre‑start and post‑start.
Shift1st Shift (US workday hours).
Union RepresentationThis is a union‑represented, hourly position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen, and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721). Candidates must be willing to work any shift as assigned.
Total RewardsCompetitive base pay ($29.42 – $47.09 per hour, Grade 24) and variable compensation opportunities. Pay and benefits may vary by location, date of hire, and collective bargaining agreements.
