Salary
$70,616 to $103,230 and $78,258 to $114,443. The Department of Water and Power salary range is $91,454 to $113,608 and $101,351 to $125,948.

An Equipment Specialist determines departmental equipment needs; prepares specifications; inspects equipment received from vendors; makes recommendations in connection with the purchase, operation, and maintenance of a wide variety of transportation, construction, fire, recreation, and park maintenance equipment; participates in and supervises such work; and performs related duties.
Qualifications andMinimum Requirements
- Four years of full‑time paid experience with the City of Los Angeles as an Equipment Mechanic or a comparable class, involving maintenance and repair of transportation, construction, fire, or park maintenance equipment, or
- Four years of full‑time paid experience with the City of Los Angeles in a Management Analyst class, involving analysis of equipment repair activities or of the operation or maintenance and repair of transportation, construction, fire, or park maintenance equipment, or
- Six years of full‑time paid experience in the maintenance and repair of transportation, construction, fire, or park maintenance equipment, or in the analysis of such activities.
Successful completion of sixty semester units or ninety quarter units from an accredited college or university, including at least twelve semester or eighteen quarter units of courses in administration, engineering, mathematics, or physics, may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.

Selection ProcessAll applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be evaluated through an interview assessing competencies such as Analytical Ability, Attention to Detail, Interpersonal Skills, Written Communication, and Job Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance. Candidates may be required to complete an advisory essay as part of the interview.
Additional InformationSome positions may require a valid California Class B driver’s license and a valid medical certificate. Candidates with certain driving records may be ineligible. Applicants may need to provide a commercial driving history.
