The Facilities Maintenance Technician will play a key role in supporting day-to-day facility operations at our El Segundo headquarters, while also helping coordinate facility-related needs as the company grows. This is a hands-on, high-impact role in a dynamic, fast-growing environment, offering the opportunity to take ownership, adapt to evolving priorities, and make a visible difference. Success in this role comes from a proactive mindset, sound judgment, a strong sense of urgency, and a genuine commitment to working safely.
Your objectives will be to:
- Build and own a preventive maintenance program from the ground up, including asset lists, PM schedules, checklists, spares planning, and tracking/reporting.
- Ensure critical building systems and work spaces operate safely and reliably through responsive troubleshooting and high‑quality repairs.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to deliver work on time, within budget, and with proper documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own facility systems and equipment: maintain asset inventory, logs, manuals, warranties, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Develop and execute a risk-based preventive and corrective maintenance program, including PM schedules, checklists, tracking, troubleshooting, and repairs across mechanical, basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems.
- Respond to maintenance requests with strong triage, clear ETAs, issue escalation, and stakeholder communication in a fast-paced environment.
- Coordinate and manage vendors and contractors: scope work, request quotes, schedule access, oversee execution, and verify quality.
- Support small facility projects such as installs, minor buildouts, workspace changes, equipment moves, and basic fabrication or repairs.
- Partner with safety and compliance stakeholders to ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance.
- Maintain an organized maintenance area; manage tools, critical spares, and reorder points to minimize downtime.
Key Requirements
- US citizenship or US permanent residency (due to the nature of our work)
- 3+ years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience (industrial, lab, R&D, or light manufacturing environments preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and wear multiple hats without becoming a bottleneck.
- Experience creating, improving, or owning a preventive maintenance program (asset registry, PM schedules, checklists, and reporting).
- Practical troubleshooting skills across multiple trades (mechanical, basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
- Strong vendor coordination skills: scoping, scheduling, oversight, and quality verification.
- Solid written and verbal communication; able to document work clearly and provide concise status updates.
- Comfortable using common software tools (email, spreadsheets) and willing to learn work order/CMMS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Current forklift certification preferred; must be able to obtain certification if not already qualified.
